Eric Bell, O.Carm., is the new director for the Shrine of Saint Thérèse in Darien, Illinois. Brother Eric professed his vows in the Order in 1964 and was ordained a deacon in 1974. He returns to this ministry having served as Shrine Director, 1987-1997.


Louis Rogge, O.Carm., is the new editor of both Carmelite publications, Carmel in the World (the international English- language publication for Lay Carmelites and all members of the Carmelite family) and Sword (a journal of Carmelite studies). Father Louie made his profession in the Order in 1949 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1954. He continues in his role as the Province’s archivist. As editor of Carmel in the World he replaces the late Father Redemptus Valabek, O.Carm.


Diego Leskovar will assist the Hispanic Vocation effort for the Province, working with Father Gregory Houck, O.Carm. Diego made his first vows in the Order in 2001, but he is currently not in the Carmelite Formation Program. He will serve as correspondent to vocation contacts and work in the Hispanic retreat program. He is currently finishing a Master of Divinity degree at Saint Mary’s Seminary in Houston.
Quinn Conners, O.Carm., is the new Director of Novices (Brandsma Priory in Middletown, New York) for the Most Pure Heart of Mary (PCM) Province. Father Quinn made his profession in the Order in 1965 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1971. Among his many positions in the Province he served as Prior Provincial, 1990-96. He follows Father Gerald Payea, O.Carm., who has been assigned to Peru.
William Wert, O.Carm., is the new Prior of Whitefriars Hall, the Carmelite House of Formation in Washington, DC. Father Bill made his profession in the Order in 1980 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1986. In this position as the Director of Formation, he oversees all the levels of formation for the Carmelite students. He will continue in his role as coordinator for the Province’s vocation team. He follow Father Emmett Gavin, O.Carm., who now ministers in New Jersey as a canonist for the Archdiocese of Newark, and as an associate pastor at Saint Anastasia’s Parish in Teaneck.
Brian Henden, O.Carm., is the new Midwest Vocation Director for the Province. Father Brian made his profession in the Order in 1987 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1993. His vocation office is at Casa Santa Teresita in Houston, Texas. He follows Father Bill Wert (see above) in this role.
Thomas Schrader, O.Carm. (left) is the new president of Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, California and Paul Henson, O.Carm., is the new principal. Father Tom moved into this position from being the school’s vice-principal, replacing Father Eugene Foley, O.Carm., who now directs the Carmelite Pre- novitiate House in Tappan, New York. Father Paul begins his first administrative position, having just finished his Masters in Education, and having been ordained to the priesthood in 2002.
