Receiving the Habit: Four Begin the Novitiate

During Vespers for the Feast of Corpus Christi, Sunday, June 13th, 2004, four young men received the Carmelite habit and began their year-long novitiate. Marlon Mateo and David Genders, who had done their pre-novitiate at Casa Santa Teresita in Houston for the Most Pure Heart of Mary (PCM, Chicago) Province, and Fabio Rojas and Francis Thuong, who had done their pre-novitiate at Saint Eliseus Priory in Tappan, New York, for the Saint Elias (NY) Province, were clothed in the Carmelite habit.

During the ceremony, Father Gerald Payae, O.Carm., was thanked for his service as Director of Novices as he moves into a new ministry in Peru and Father Quinn Conners, O.Carm., became the new Director, along with on-going Director Father Timothy Ennis, O.Carm.

Newly received novices Fabio Rojas, Marlon Mateo, Francis Thuong, and David Genders.
