Recently Departed Carmelite Priests and Brothers (continued)

Rev. Aloysius Sieracki, O.Carm., died at Loyola Hospital in Maywood, IL, on Thursday, February 17 , 2005 at the age of 75.

He was born in Chicago, on Nov. 5, 1929 the son of the late Peter and Mary (Kroll) Sieracki. The family also included six brothers, Norbert, Edward, Thomas, Leonard, Peter and Joseph, along with four sisters, Barbara, Helen, Mary, and Louise.

Visitation for Rev. Aloysius Sieracki, O.Carm., took place on Sunday, February 20, at the National Shrine of St. Therese, in Darien, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, February 21, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, also in Darien. The principal celebrant at mass was the Very Reverend John F. Russell, O.Carm., S.T.D., Prior Provincial. The Reverend Joseph McCarthy, O.Carm., was the homilist. Internment immediately followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

A Chicago native, alumnus and former teacher at Mount Carmel High School, in Chicago, Fr. Al was a graduate of Illinois Institute of Technology and served in the United States Army prior to entering the Carmelites. He was a former Delegate to the Lay Carmelites. Fr. Al was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and published poet.

Fr. Aloysius Sieracki, O.Carm., enjoyed a retired life at The Carmelite Carefree Village retirement community, in Darien, until shortly before his death. During his retirement he still kept active, saying mass at St. Alphonsus’ Parish in Lemont, IL, conducting pilgrimages to shrines and places of interest and writing his collected volumes of poetry.
