Taking the Initiative, Two Committees Discuss the Future

Two ad hoc committees met recently in the Carmelite Province of the Most Pure Heart of Mary to discuss new options for life and ministry in the Province. In late February members of the Province where invited to Whitefriars Hall in Washington, DC, to discuss proposals for beginning a “contemplative community.”

This committee was chaired by John Welch, O.Carm., Eastern Regional Superior. In early March members of the Province were invited to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, in Houston, Texas, to discuss “new inititatives” for active ministry in the Province.

This meeting was chaired by Stan Makacinas, O.Carm., Western Regional Superior, and Ron Oakham, O.Carm. Shown in this photo are Carmelites Vicente Lopez, Michael Greenwell, Stan Makacinas, Thomas Schrader, John Knoernschild and Ronald Oakham.
