professed Carmelites Fabio Rojas,
Marlon Mateo and David Genders |
Our three novices were encouraged
to live the vows they were
about to profess in “highfidelity.”
During the homily at their
First Profession of Vows on Monday,
June 13th, Rev. Michael Kissane,
O.Carm., Prior Provincial of the Saint
Elias (NY) Province, noted that there
can be many distractions and many
disappointments in life, but the call of
the Lord is true and the response to
each distraction or each disappointment
is to listen to that call with fidelity,
with high-fidelity. The Call will perdure
strongly through it all, long after
the distractions lose their attraction or
the disappointments lose their sting.
The novices, Fabio Rojas (of
the Saint Elias Province), Marlon
Mateo and David Genders (both
of the Most Pure Heart of Mary
Province) professed vows of
poverty, chastity and obedience
during the liturgy presided by Very
Reverend John Russell, O.Carm.,
then Prior Provincial.
Brother Fabio has been assigned
to ministry at Saint Albert’s in
Middletown, New York. Brother
Marlon has been assigned to teaching
at Mount Carmel High School
in Chicago. David Genders will
begin theology studies at Whitefriars
Hall in Washington, DC. |
