Salpointe Alumna Becomes Fiesta Bowl Queen
2004 Graduate to Preside at Over 40 Bowl Events

After three months of interviews and appearances, Tucson native and 2004 graduate of Salpointe Catholic High School was selected as the 37th annual Fiesta Bowl Queen. Rosalind Ross, 21, a University of Arizona senior, was crowned queen at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa in Chandler, Arizona. Ross will reign over the Fiesta Bowl’s 2007-2008 Fiesta of College Football, which includes more than 40 events surrounding the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and Insight Bowl games.

Of the four finalists, Ross was selected to wear the esteemed Fiesta Bowl crown based on several judging qualifications and criteria, including community involvement, scholastic achievement, poise, personality and an essay submission. The selection process included several panel interviews, television interviews and public online voting. Ross, who is majoring in political science, is a member of the Phi Alpha Delta prelaw fraternity and the University of Arizona Honors College.

Rosalind was selected from more than 100 applicants, according to Cassie Davis, a spokeswoman for the Fiesta Bowl events. Applicants are required to be under age 23 and attending an Arizona college or university. Ross and her three-member court each will receive a scholarship and a wardrobe for Fiesta Bowl event appearances.
