Dear Raven,
I'm looking forward to hearing the harp sometime. Maybe bring it to the next Carmelite Institute convention?
Yours, in Carmel, fr. Greg
What a sensible way to proceed! I recently obtained a "Harpsickle" 26 string lap harp with a self-teach CD course, and am going to attack the need to regularize daily practice (the dreaded "P" -word!) only demanding of myself a minimum of 2 minutes in the way recommended--I have a butterfly brain and organization doesn't come easily.
When I first started saying the Liturgy of the Hours, I found it difficult; However, after a few years it has become part of my being; now saying the Divine Office structures my day, anchors my being, & is part of my identity. I understand now what the Little Flower meant when, near the end of her life, she was asked "what devotions" she found fruitful for her interior life--she said she found everything she needed in the Divine Office. I shall schedule my 2 minute- harp practice after Vespers and see if I can make it a solid habit that way. It's an instrument which has a strongly meditative quality to it, and I do fine once I just make myself sit down with it. The ultimate goal of the endeavor is to accompany the psalms with quiet background chords. . . Thanks for the hint !
