Blessing the Trees. Father Kevin McBrien, O.Carm., Pastor of Saint Matthew Church, Glendale Heights, Illinois, was asked by the Chicago Christmas Ship Committee to bless the United States Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw and its cargo of Christmas Tress during a ceremonial program held December 4th at Chicago’s Navy Pier. The trees, donated by an all volunteer group are given away to disadvantaged families with children who would not other wise be able to have a Christmas tree.
